Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about gameplay mechanics, technical performance, device compatibility, and saving your progress.

Gameplay & Controls

Yes, Control Guys Count is completely free to play directly in your web browser. There are no pay-to-win mechanics, compulsory downloads, or subscription fees. All skins and progression are unlocked purely through gameplay.
On desktop computers, use the A and D keys, the Left and Right arrow keys, or click and drag your mouse across the screen. On mobile touchscreens, simply touch and drag horizontally to steer your crowd.
Passing through blue and green gates adds (+) or multiplies (×) your crowd size based on the number of members entering that specific gate side. Passing through red gates subtracts (-) or divides (÷) your count. Check out our in-depth Mastering Math Gates Guide for exact mathematical formulas!
After defeating the boss or crossing the finish line, your crowd forms a human pyramid. The height of the pyramid determines how many rainbow steps you can climb, scaling your coin rewards from 1.2x up to a maximum 10.0x multiplier!

Technical, Mobile & Performance

Absolutely! The game is built mobile-first. On touchscreens, simply touch and drag horizontally to steer your crowd with instantaneous response. The 3D graphics scale seamlessly across modern smartphones.
Your unlocked levels, star ratings, earned coin balance, and equipped skins are saved automatically to your browser's local storage (localStorage). As long as you do not clear your browser cache, your progress remains intact.
Control Guys Count uses GPU vertex shaders via Three.js instanced rendering. Rather than recalculating hundreds of bone joints on the CPU every frame, character locomotion, running stride, and gate hops are calculated in parallel on your graphics processor.
The game contains an automated adaptive quality scaler that automatically reduces particle counts and sets the pixel ratio to 1.0 if frame rates dip below 40 FPS. Additionally, ensure your browser has Hardware Acceleration enabled in browser settings.
